Traceability Commitment

Category Guidance

Demonstrate ability to trace products from can code or sales invoice to vessel and trip.

Means of Verification

Company is asked to produce sourcing data for a specific month (randomly1 selected from a 12-month period), from which four (4) product codes will be randomly selected. The company will then be asked to demonstrate they can trace the product back all the way to the vessel that caught the fish and/or to an ISSF Participating Company (already subject to the traceability exercise requirement, tuna only). Mock recalls may be presented as evidence. Additional documentation presented as evidence may include catch certificates and captain’s statements, supplier invoices or fish tickets, bills of lading, production reports, and/or warehouse receipts / releases and sales invoices.
