Company provides weblink to its public tuna or wider seafood sourcing commitment. Commitment should state the percentage of company’s purchases from each category, and outline goal(s) with regards to sourcing over time. Categories may include:
- MSC certified fisheries.
- Credible FIPs.6
- Fisheries listed as green or yellow on the Seafood Watch Guide.
- One-by-one/pole & Line fisheries.
- Fisheries/vessels that can demonstrate they only use fully non-entangling biodegradable FADs.7
Means of Verification
Review commitment and associated sustainability requirements. This serves as the baseline against which future audits will be carried out.
Auditor will assess the reasonableness of the reported percentages on the basis of data provided by the company, including source of product, and a breakdown of shelf-stable, fresh and frozen goods, and associated conversion factors used to estimate round fish equivalent.
